UPDATE:
For the last day of Pedal Pittsburgh 2 Maryland (Friday, July 12), we will be adding a one-day option for Frederick-area cyclists who ONLY want to do a one-day ride, from Clear Spring MD to Frederick.
Here is the lowdown:
Have someone bring you and your bike to Clear Spring, MD Thursday afternoon (July 11) to the Holiday Inn Express (12426 Houck Ave) for the night.
Then join us (the rest of Pedal Pitt 2 Maryland) on Friday morning for our (62.5 or 100 mile) ride to Frederick.
$175* includes rest stops, a night’s stay at the Holiday Inn Express, and 2 free beers après ride Friday afternoon following the ride.
Contact us if you are interested!
*If you are not staying overnight Thursday at the Holiday Inn Express, your cost is $75 per cyclist.
Yes, after 19 glorious years, we are reversing the course this year. This will be great, as we will have many of the same overnight stops and scenic views but add TWO new overnight towns (With MUCH NICER hotel options!)
Plus, some new Ride Genius Approved Climbs, Like PA’s Highest Point (Mount Davis) to go along with most of the old favorites. But in a totally different direction!
Here is the lowdown:
July 7 Sunday: We van you and your bike from Frederick (9:00 am departure from the Route 40 Comfort Inn) to Pittsburgh. Arrive 1:00 pm at the Sheraton Station Square. Sightsee, lunch & dinner, etc.
July 8 Monday: Pittsburgh to Ohiopyle.
July 9 Tuesday: Ohiopyle to Deep Creek MD.
July 10 Wednesday: Deep Creek to Cumberland.
July 11 Thursday: Cumberland to Clear Spring.
July 12 Friday: Clear Spring to Frederick.
For those that want to stay over in Frederick Friday night, we will make a reservation for you. Else, you can just head home. Sadly, we will NOT be staying at the Hancock Motel or the old, antiquated motels in Frostburg (HAR!). Instead, we will be at the Fairfield Inn Cumberland and the Holiday Inn Express Clear Spring. We are excited about the hotel changes, because of which we will be able to take a few more cyclists this year (20). We will save a spot for all of the riders (18 total) * who have done the ride the past 2 years until April 7 (with a $250 deposit please). After that, we will open it up to all. * We will have two spots available for any new riders. If you know two newbies who want in, please let them know soon.
Hope all can make it. Contact Phil at 301-693-4503 or use the website contact form.
