Some added rides for 2025, in addition to the Pedal Pittsburgh to MD ride July 13th thru the 18th:
1-Apples, Peaches ride; Columbus Day weekend. Saturday, October 11th & Sunday the 12th. Saturday's ride is the same as last year's Clear Spring route and we have a new ride for Sunday that will head north to PA and then south to Hancock and back to Clear Spring, MD...48 miles...really two beautiful routes.
2-Yellow Ribbon Ride, October 18th, Gettysburg, PA. Support our Vets on this day as we ride through and around Gettysburg battlefields.
3-The Fil Heffler Birthday ride, Saturday, April 12th. Challenge yourself (and ME TOO!...72 yrs old YUK!) as we ride some Catoctin Hollow Epic climbs...with a Cactus Flats Cheeseburger après ride.
4-The return to Wellsboro and the PA Grand Canyon ride...TBD
5-The REX Ballinger Retirement Ride .....HOPEFULLY May 2025........BUT MAYBE 2026*....27....28....29.....or 2030....?
* When we plan Rex's Retirement, one is reminded of Yogi Berra's Quote...."IT AIN'T OVER 'TIL IT'S OVER!!!"
We start by Conquering Hamburg...(aka...Rex Blvd)..and then north to Thurmont before returning to Frederick with a 50mph descent down the Dubble Bubble.....WOOHOO!
PLAN ACCORDINGLY....These rides are too great to miss!

Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7.
Colton Motel: 232 Steinwehr Ave, Gettysburg PA 17325
Both the 25 and the 50 are scenic with very little traffic. The 50 has some really good, long climbs and follows the original Catoctin Challenge route from the late 90’s up & over the Michaux State Forrest and South Mountain. The 25 also follows the CC, but is much easier with scenic views, but only with a few (short) & very doable climbs. For those from Pittsburgh: Suggest making reservations ASAP….We are at the Colton Motel (clean but older motel). Others are the Best Western and Quality Inn on Steinwehr Avenue, but the Colton is less expensive if you book via Expedia. There are many great bars & restaurants within one block of the hotels. A Phil favorite is Gettysburg Eddies, which is a baseball bar with old time photos of HOF Eddie Plank, who grew up in Gettysburg. Rides Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th – and, of course…Apple, Peach and Pumpkin Pies après ride to go with your beers! Questions? Call Phil at 301-693-4503….or use the web contact page.
Welcome
Hello and welcome to our site. Our Brain Trust is still in learning mode, so be patient and gentle with us. This site would be more advanced, but we’re too busy riding our bikes and mapping out routes at the moment. See you out there. – BT
